Let Creac'h illuminate a Brittany villa holiday

According to Brittany Tourism, there are 80 lighthouses but Creac'h on the ile D'Ouessant is one of the most famous and interesting.

It reportedly boasts one of the most powerful lights in the world and on a clear day has a range of 120 kilometres.

Although none of the lighthouses on the coastline are inhabited anymore many, such as Saint-Matthieu, Trezien and Creac'h, can still be visited by eager tourists to see how the keepers lived in such remote conditions.

The old engine room at Creac'h is said to still house the museum of lighthouses and buoys and the building is instantly recognisable by its black and white stripes and marks the most north-westernmost point of European France.

Brittany villa renters can elect to fly or self-drive to their holiday destination but may find that a car is essential to seeing all the sights of this rural and captivating region.
