Brittany villa holidays offer heaps of beach fun

In an article for the Mirror, Rupert Hamer said holiday makers are never short of beaches anywhere in Brittany.

He said the area has a similar feel and look to Cornwall, but can be easier to get to thanks to good ferry links and congestion-free French roads.

Children will enjoy playing in the waves and exploring sandy coves and rock pools, while adults can indulge in some freshly-caught seafood at one of the many local restaurants along the coast.

Mr Hamer recommended a day on the "fine" beach at St Malo, which he insisted is great for building sandcastles.

"If you are making the crossing to St Malo make sure you spend a night in the port city or leave time to explore on the way back," he added.

Those seduced by the idea of beach fun in Brittany could rent a villa in Quiberon, which is renowned for its sandy beach and is popular with watersports enthusiasts.

Here, seafood fans can also sample some delicious local sardines.
