Torrox fair, Andalucia
Torrox in Andalucia is a white-walled village, located about four kilometres inland from the coast.
From the 4th to the 7th October Torrox Pueblo celebrates its fair, or ' Feria', a celebration to attract all kinds of holidaymakers.
The festival is on for about three days and all the residents get dressed up and the narrow streets are covered with lights and decorations.
When the music begins the locals dance into the small hours of the morning, an evening which gives all holidaymakers a taste of the real Spain.
The village prospered during the Moorish period as a result of its role in the trading of silks between Granada and eastern cities such as Baghdad and Damascus.
The white-walls and narrow streets, symbols of Moorish architecture, with a main lively square are symbols of the village.
Holidaymakers not visiting the area during fair time will not be left short of things to do, aside from admiring the village a 6km journey to Torrox Costa provides two maritime promenades and walks along the coast and there are nine kilometres of sandy beaches to enjoy.
