San Juan on an Andalucia holiday
Taking place on June 24th, the night of midsummer, locals and visitors camp out on the beaches and at midnight they wash their hands and feet in the sea, to bring good luck.
Bonfires are also created across the beach front for the feast that embodies pagan tradition.
Large figures, usually filled with paper, are set on fire and travellers on an Andalucia holiday can watch as the figure is burnt and the fire grows.
The midsummer night is known to be magical but it is also in honour of San Juan - St John the Baptist.
Holiday makers staying in a cheap villa in Andalucia can also spend their time enjoying the beach in the day time.
The warm Mediterranean climate is perfect for beach lovers who may want to relax by their private pool when not spending time by the sea.
