Proof that Neanderthal man lived in Caves in Andalucia
New findings have confirmed that the Neanderthal man did live in the Nerja Caves.
Holidaymakers will be excited by the news that artefacts uncovered in the Nerja Caves offer evidence to the claims that the caves were once home to the Neanderthal Man.
According to reports from typicallyspanish.com, three flint tools dating back 40,000 years that were found in the caves have been proved to belong to the Neanderthal man.
Dating back from the middle of the Palaeolithic period, the tools, that were discovered a few years ago, were part of 151,588 items that scientists had been studying.
Scientists have been looking at items removed from the famous caves and they are in no doubt the evidence.
Angel Ramirez, the director of the Nerja Cave Foundation, told the press that the findings marked a key moment in the caves' history.
Holidaymakers now have even more reason to leave the villa and visit the vast caves, one of Spain's biggest tourist attractions, which stretch for almost five kilometres and concerts are held in the amphitheatre.
The caves were discovered in 1959 by a group of cavers and features some spectacular stalactites and stalagmites.
