One of Andalucia holiday makers' best loved monuments to reopen

Two years in the making, the restoration of the old favourite has cost millions of euros but will now delight a new generation of travellers, according to Euro Weekly News.

The Alcazaba was built in the 13th Century when the town of Antequera was an important border town to protect the Moorish state from the rampaging Spanish Catholic army.

Built upon a hill, the monument overlooks Antequera and those who book a cheap villa holiday in the summer will be able to see the town's brilliant fields turn yellow as sunflowers take over the area.

Although the monument is five hundred years old, the town itself has a history that dates back almost 5,000 years and itself is a monument to Spanish history, according to Andalucia.com.
