New plans to improve road safety in Andalucia
Plan de Seguridad Vial 2008 has been given the go-ahead by Malaga's provincial government, with around 300,500 euros set aside for road improvements, Euro Weekly reports.
The money will be divided equally between the regions of Antequera, Valle del Guadalhorce, la Serrania de Ronda and the region of Axarquia.
Improvements are likely to include new road signs, barriers and general surface work.
According to reports, all of the local councils have co-operated on the plan by exchanging information and accident statistics with one another.
Meanwhile, Britons hiring a car while on holiday in Andalucia can stay safe by reading the country's rules of the road before leaving.
Drivingabroad.co.uk recommended that holiday makers keep money in their hire car for toll roads and check road signs as speed limits can vary greatly.
