New museum to celebrate Spanish art
The Palace, not far from the Picasso museum, will be the site for a new museum dedicated to other famous Spanish painters.
The Thyssen Museum will hold the private collection of Baroness Thyssen, a total of 225 works, including 37 from painters native to Malaga that depict local scenes.
Reports from typicallyspanish.com state that work will last about two and a half years and will also restore neighbouring buildings in Calle Compania.
The Baroness is a key figure in Spanish art after persuading Baron Han Heinrich Thyssen to bring one of the world's greatest private art collections to Madrid.
Malaga already has a reputation for good culture as well as great beaches, weather and scenery and the addition of the new museum will only extend the interest of art lovers coming to see the Picasso museum.
