Leisure port planned in Andalucia
According to the Olive Press, Marina Mijas SL is hoping to build a marina with up to 1,000 berths, two cruise ship docking bays and a helicopter landing pad.
There will also be room for around 50 fishing boats and the port will host a fish market where tourists can purchase fresh seafood as it comes onto shore.
In addition to the marina itself, several shops, bars, cafes and restaurants may also be built in the surrounding area, making the port a top tourist hotspot.
Mijas is already a popular destination for the rich and famous and may become even more attractive once Sir Alan Sugar takes control of a new hotel in the area.
The Apprentice star has reportedly bought a five-star establishment in the mountains surrounding Mijas.
Of course families can live in luxury without the breaking the bank by renting an Andalucia villa in Torrox along the coast.
From here they can drive to Mijas and spend the day exploring the town, or head a little further along and visit Marbella, another Spanish celebrity hangout.
