Holy Week in Andalucia
Known as Semana Santa, in Spain, Lucena celebrates the week every year and it will give visitors to Anadalucia a chance to engage in the religious history of the region.
Saetas are sung throughout the processions which run from Palm Sunday right through to Easter Sunday and are led by the Cofradias who are religious brotherhoods that come together from many parishes to take part in the event.
The week represents the most important part of the religious calendar for Christians and it is celebrated intensely throughout Spain.
Holidaymakers coming to the area in the new season will be able to visit the celebrations for Holy Week and take part in the solemn but also exciting events.
Combined with the beautiful coastal villages such as Nerja, and the sunny weather, Nerja is a great place for families to take a relaxing villa break in the New Year.
