Get feasting on an Andalucia holiday
The annual fiesta, held in Malaga, dates back to an ancient celebration of the Midsummer Solstice and sees locals and tourists on an Andalucia holiday enjoy a number of cultural activities.
The free event is held over two days on June 22nd and 23rd but culminates at midnight on the second evening with a spectacular bonfire party on the beach.
Large cloth caricatures made to resemble public figures are set alight and festival-goers dance and sing around the fires until the early hours.
Moonlight swimming also takes place as legend has it that anyone taking a dip in the sea at the stroke of midnight will be blessed with eternal beauty.
During the festival there will also be various dancing performances, parades, street entertainment and competitions organised by local youth groups.
Visitors hoping to witness the Feast of St John could stay in an Andalucia villa and enjoy some of the other events and activities on offer in the region.
For example, the ancient city of Cadiz, thought to be the oldest inhabited city in Europe, is a must for anyone enjoying an Andalucia holiday.
