Expert recommends a walking holiday in Andalucia
Kate Mulvey of the Daily Mail stated that when booking a walking holiday, travellers should be realistic about the level and lengths of trek they are interested in.
"Nothing beats the sense of achievement after a long walk," she added.
On one hike, she claims the sierras of Almijara and Tejeda rose "directly behind the pretty village of Competa" and offered a "typically picturesque Andalucian scene" with an array of whitewashed house and pebbly streets 700 metres above sea level.
The writer added that there was a "buzz in the air" as her group "snaked its way through pine forests and scrubland" - and holiday makers can feel the same sense of enjoyment if they rent a villa in the region.
One place they may like to stay is Frigliana, which is one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.
Sitting in the foothills of the Sierra de Tejeda Mountains, it could also act as an ideal base for a walking holiday.
