Andalucia holiday beaches awarded blue flags
Those visiting Spain for an Andalucia villa holiday may be interested to read that the blue flag awards mean these beaches meet strict criteria for factors such as water quality and accessibility.
The Association for Environmental and Consumer Education, which released the data, said that the blue flags also mean the beaches provide adequate environmental information to Andalucia holiday makers and meet the requirements of European legislation.
Earlier this month, the European commission (EC) released details of the cleanliness of bathing waters around Europe.
It found that 95 per cent of coastal sites and 89 per cent of rivers and lakes across the continent met the legal quality requirements for water quality in 2007. More than 21,000 sites were checked last year, the EC said.
