Why not book Algarve villas to see FIA GT1 World Championships?

Fans of motor-racing sports may want to snap up some last minute Algarve villas, as the location is set to be host to the third round of the FIA GT1 World Championship.

Taking place between the dates of May 6th and 8th, the event is seen as a highlight of the international sporting calendar.

Over the course of the occasion, more than 160 drivers will look to fight it out to be the first to reach the chequered flag in over 120 different cars.

The location of this edition of the FIA GT1 World Championships will take place at the modern and iconic Algarve International Raceway.

Some of the attractions which are likely to appeal to those booking up villas in the Algarve include the GT3 Championship race, the Championship Circuit Portugal event and the Mini Challenge.

Manuel da Luz, president of the Municipal Chamber of Portimao, commented: "These events are very important to the country and even more so even the current economic situation."

Those hoping to visit the Algarve for the attraction will be pleased to know that Ryanair has opened up new routes from Robin Hood Airport to Faro – a travel hub close to the Portuguese hot spot.
