When in Algarve villas 'seek out the Ria Formosa Natural Park'
Holiday makers who decide to stay in Algarve villas this summer have been encouraged to seek out the abundance of wildlife in the area.
Martina Kerk, product manager of Sun & Sea, Algarve Promotion Bureau, believes that those with a love of nature will find plenty to entertain them.
For one, she advised families to make sure they take time out of their visit to the Algarve to discover the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
"Covering over 18,000 hectares, it is ideal for hiking and sailing and is home to a variety of wildlife species," Ms Kerk noted.
Another destination to visit in the Portuguese holiday hot spot is Tavira, a town bustling with "historic churches and fine mansions", according to the expert.
It seems as though many Brits are looking to head to villas in the Algarve this year, if research by On the Beach is anything to go by.
The study found that bookings to the Algarve coast over the Easter period are already 90 per cent up than the same time in 2010.
