Visitors 'should get involved' during Algarve villa holidays
Holiday makers should not be afraid to venture out and immerse themselves in local culture if they want to make the most of their Algarve villa break, a travel expert has advised.
A spokeswoman for Cheapflights said that a visit to Portugal can be a "unique experience".
The Algarve, with its unique landscape and mountainous coastline, was identified as one of the highlights of the European country.
While it may be difficult for visitors to leave their luxurious Algarve villas, it is certainly worth the effort to explore the region and learn more about the local culture, according to the Cheapflights spokeswoman.
"The best way to experience Portuguese culture is to get involved. Many travellers find themselves in beautiful Algarvian villas - with the sunshine and stunning coastlines, it can often be difficult to leave," she said.
"Travellers should get out, enjoy the cuisine and get to know the locals."
People planning to visit Portugal this year could find that the country is more affordable than in 2009, as a result of changes in the exchange rate which mean that Brits can now get more euros for their pounds.
