Grab yourself a late deal >Visit Portugese wonders while on holiday in the Algarve
Holiday makers in the Algarve over the coming weeks and months are in an ideal position to explore the seven highlights of Portugal, as voted for by the public.
The New Seven Wonders of the World Portugal were announced recently and, according to one expert, are a "brilliant thing" for tourism in the country.
A spokesperson for Auto Europe notes the spots are "just a fantastic celebration of the amazing culture of the country. Hopefully, it will inspire more tourists to go sightseeing and visit these incredible spots".
Among those to make the cut is the mountain on Pico Island, the setting of Sete Cidades and Peneda-Geres National Park.
Some 656,000 votes were cast in the quest to determine which of Portugal's natural and most beautiful attractions are the best.
It was recently announced the coast at Dona Ana in Lagos, close to Portimao, had been nominated as one of the top beaches at the World Travel Awards.
