Try Tavira 'Algarve's prettiest town'
Those who visit Tavira, just a short drive east of Faro airport, will encounter the prettiest town in the whole of the Algarve, according to the Sunday Mail.
It claims that as well as offering golfing holidays for sun-worshippers, the Algarve is also awash with "captivating coastal towns, hillside villages, castles and forts steeped in culture and history".
Despite boasting a population of just 20,000, Tavira contains 37 churches and is a striking place to stroll through with its "whitewashed buildings and beautiful mansions".
The "impressive" Santa Maria do Castelo is also described as a 13th century Gothic "masterpiece".
A large selection of villas are available across the Algarve's charming coastline from Faro to Lagos - many of which are within comfortable walking distances of both beaches and resort centres.
