Tavira 'can be a highlight of Algarve holidays'

An ancient spot just east of Faro has been highlighted as a particularly beautiful place to spend some time while on holiday in the Algarve.

Gill Charlton, a travel expert writing for the Daily Telegraph, identifies the resort as one that is well worth travelling to.

She says it is already "proving a big draw" among UK tourists, with a host of stylish buildings and restaurants ready to welcome visitors.

The author explains it is located on the Mediterranean Sea with access to long and sandy beaches, with some people choosing to take boat trips from this point.

Many of those head into the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, which could be a favourite for wildlife lovers taking a holiday in the Algarve in 2011.

Sarah Shuckburgh, writing a piece for the Daily Mail, recently recommended Alentejo as one of the most peaceful and tranquil spots to head to in the region for a quiet break.
