Take part in golf tournament while staying in Algarve villas

Sports fans may be interested in taking flights to Algarve villas during the autumn to take in some competitive golf action.

The Portuguese hot spot will be hosting the 34th TAP Open Amateur Golf Tournament between November 12th and 19th.

All residents are free to put their name forward for the competition and will be able to take part in games at venues across Vilamoura, including Oceanico's Old Course, Laguna, Victoria and Pinhal golf courses.

Up to 250 players can participate in this year's contest, although the organisers TAP are hoping to find people to represent 15 nations.

In order to enter, individuals looking to take sporting holidays around villas in the Algarve need to request their entry by October 15th.

Recently, England and Manchester United footballer Michael Owen praised the sporting options available while on holiday in the Algarve.

He told the Daily Mail: "Playing golf at the Quinta do Lago course on the Algarve is as good as it gets, and there's also plenty for the kids to do."
