Take holidays in the Algarve to sample fresh wine

Wine lovers may want to snap up last-minute flights to villas in the Algarve to ensure their attendance at a free event in the region themed on the drink.

The Portuguese resort of Quinta dos Vales, in Estombar, is set to host the fifth edition of the Porta Aberta Open Door event on October 15th and 16th.

Algarve Daily News reported that holiday makers who head along to the attraction will have the chance to sample two new red wines - Grace Touriga Nacional 2009 and Selecta 2009.

Visitors can try before they buy too, thanks to free wine tastings being put on at the event over both days.

The attraction is not exclusively focussed on wine though, as various music performances and DJ sets will be available for alternative entertainment.

Brits can also take in a cooking class with chef Augusto Lima during their trip to the event, which could give them skills for use once their arrive back in the UK.

Sports fans may want to make a return to Algarve villas in November, as the Portuguese hot spot will be hosting the 34th TAP Open Amateur Golf Tournament throughout the month.
