Take an Algarve villa holiday to see the new-look Loule

People taking Algarve villa holidays in the future could see the benefit of a major redevelopment being planned in Loule.

Local authorities have put together a plan to revamp the city centre as part of a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Portugal, the Algarve Resident reported.

Holiday makers staying in Algarve villas will find it easier to explore the city following the works, as one of the main aims of the project is to make the area more pedestrian-friendly.

The redevelopment could also extend Loule's capacity for hosting major events.

Seruca Emidio, mayor of the city, said: "The concept of the redevelopment is to create a more sociable area for pedestrians, which can be used more as a square than as a street or road for vehicles."

He added: "The streets in the centre of Loule will be transformed into an area more akin to a plaza, making it more suitable to hold major events both cultural and social as the roads can easily be closed to traffic."

People planning Algarve villa holidays this summer will be able to visit Loule to experience Festival Med, which will bring live music, international cuisine and entertainment to the area from June 23rd to 26th.
