If Algarve villas prove appealing this year, a location that should be visited at least once upon arrival is Albufeira.
The southern Portuguese resort has been praised by a writer at TravelBite.co.uk for its uniqueness compared to many other parts of the Algarve.
"Albufeira … is a great place for holidaymakers to head to as its coastal location makes it ideal for families wanting to enjoy a beach break, while you can avoid the busyness of the Algarve's larger towns," they explained.
The trip could be a particularly appealing one for Brits hoping to learn some of the history of Portugal while staying in villas in the Algarve.
While in Albufeira, people will be explore signs of Roman civilisation, Moorish influence and Christian conquests.
Brits have plenty of opportunities to visit the Algarve this summer, thanks to British Airways introducing four flights a week between London City Airport and Faro, which will operate all the year round.
