Seek out wildlife treats while on an Algarve getaway
Wildlife lovers should not miss out on the chance to visit the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve while booking a stay in Algarve villas.
The protected site in Faro presents people with 60km of coastline, stretching from Tavira in the east of the region to Ancao in the west.
Within this space, tourists can discover such picturesque sights as enduring sand dunes, relaxing canals and attractive lagoons.
Across each of these areas, nature lovers can regularly witness a large variety of birds going about their daily lives, including rare sights such as purple herons, white storks and egrets.
Woodland and dune vegetation retreats should also take the fancy of those with interests in seeking out unique botanical displays.
Putting off a stay in villas in the Algarve could prove particularly appealing in the summer, seeing as though the Portuguese hotspot will also be hosting the Faro Book Fair.
Running from July until August 2012, families will be able to shop for engaging novels while being entertained by live music and theatrical displays.
