Seek out Algarve villas for award-winning golf experience

Those looking for golf holidays may want to book in at some Algarve villas, after the Portuguese destination's courses were applauded.

Golf Magazine has awarded the Algarve with the honour of Europe's best golf region, the fourth consecutive year that it has achieved the prize, the Algarve Tourism Association revealed.

The golf attractions in the Portuguese resort beat off competition from the likes of Turkey's destination of Belek and Andalucia, in Spain.

Commenting on the reasons behind the achievement, Dieter Geschke, editor of Golf Magazine, pointed out that the popularity of the Algarve's golf courses "remains unaltered" in the publication's view.

He added: "Quality always wins. Congratulations."

Recently, Nzherald.co.nz reported that those seeking villas in the Algarve will have an estimate of 40 golf courses to enjoy.

One of the highlights from this list is the Monte Rei, which is based north east of Tavira and has been described by the news source as "one of the finest courses in Europe".
