Seek out Algarve villas 'for a variety of sporting pursuits'

There are a number of reasons why tourists should take up the opportunity to visit villas in the Algarve during the winter months.

Hugo Nascimento, sun and sea product manager at the Algarve Promotion Bureau, pointed out that the Portuguese hotspot makes for an ideal getaway during the chillier seasons.

Families can bask in appealing temperatures which average between 20 and 23 degrees C over the winter, while sport fans are sure to find plenty of entertainment by visiting Algarve's golf resorts.

The Portuguese region is packed with a wide variety of courses to explore, from the Alamos venue in Portimao to Almancil's Quinta do Lago attractions.

"Also, you can do trekking in the fields, different sorts of watersports like water skiing, sailing and surfing," Mr Nascimento went on to note.

The expert went on to advise a trip to the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve motor racing circuit, where both the International GT Open and Superbike World Championship events are now held.
