See some international sailing on an Algarve villa holiday

Sports fans looking forward to an Algarve villa holiday later this month might be interested in paying a visit to Portimao to see an international sailing event.

The Portugal Match Cup will take place in the waters off Portimao from June 23rd to 27th.

Twelve teams from all around the world are set to take part in the competition, which is the Portuguese stage of the World Match Racing Tour (WMRT).

Sailing crews participate in the WMRT in order to train and qualify for the America's Cup, meaning that all individual events follow the same format and rules of the larger regatta.

In addition to the main race, the Portugal Match Cup will feature a junior contest from June 25th to 27th and a women's competition that Algarve villa guests will be able to see from June 30th to July 3rd.

Sports fans planning Algarve villa holidays over the coming months will have the opportunity to see other competitive events such as the World Touring Car Championship race in Portimao from July 2nd to 4th.
