Sample the secrets of Sagres on an Algarve holiday

Sagres can be found close to Europe's most south-westerly point and, according to the Telegraph, it is home to a spectacular beach that can lay claim to being one of the world's finest.

The beach is said to be dominated at its western end by a white fort, which before Portugal's sailors set off to explore the globe was thought to be the end of the world.

Sagres offers a "fine undeveloped beach" that is "backed by orange cliffs" and its "impressive rollers" attract surfers from all over the world - so holiday makers who like to ride the ocean waves can try their luck.

Just a short drive from Sagres is the Parque da Floresta Golf and Leisure Resort, which boasts superb sporting facilities - from golfing to tennis, football and cycling - while those who prefer their holidays to be a bit more relaxing can head to the spa.
