Quality of Algarve holidays could be a benchmark
The experience gained from a holiday in the Algarve is something tourist destinations around the world could learn from.
Nick Sturge, writing for the Bristol Evening Post, says even south-west England could take a leaf out of the Portuguese region's book.
He notes the scenery and beauty of the area, in addition to its climate, as possible reasons behind its success as one of Europe's premier holiday spots.
As well as this, the Portuguese Tourist Board recently noted the primary factor in tourists' decision on holiday destinations was cost, so many local businesses have decreased their charges.
With attractive scenery, a regular supply of sun and a sandy shore, an Algarve villa could be the setting for a dream late-summer break.
Indeed, Mr Sturge notes there is currently "no room at the inn", as travellers land in south Portugal in large numbers.
