Participate in photography contest while in Algarve villas

Holiday makers who are preparing to travel to villas in the Algarve have been encouraged to get their cameras at the ready.

According to the Portugal News, the Tourism Board of the Portuguese hot spot has put together a regional photography competition.

Centred on the theme of 'Algarve, natural secrets', the idea is to take pictures of the most awe-inspiring landscapes found in the area.

People staying in Algarve villas who pick up their cameras to get involved have the chance to win a Canon EOS 1100D 18-55 DC III device if they are named the winner of the contest.

Free tickets to a water park in the region, golf lessons and boat trips along the Ria Formosa are also up for grabs.

Candidates have until January 9th 2012 to get involved in the competition, with photos required to be delivered to the regional tourism board headquarters, based in Faro.

The Portuguese region is home to an array of eye-catching sights to seek out, from cultural retreats in Silves and Lagos to the breathtaking countryside surrounding Monchique and Aljezur.
