Overseas travel market tipped to grow
Villas in tourism hotspots such as the Algarve are likely to see a surge in demand over the next two years, according to a new study.
Research by Key Note found that the recession led to some people in the UK choosing to stay at home, but improving economic conditions are prompting many to look overseas once again.
Key Note said part of this increase would stem from the fact that many chose to stay in the UK and regretted not taking a holiday overseas during the recession, Travolution reports.
This means that villas in leading holiday destinations such as the Algarve are likely to be increasingly popular with consumers.
The Portuguese tourism hotspot is currently gearing up to host its annual festival of musical, culture, sports and gastronomy.
Names including Seal, Joss Stone and Mariza will be among the performers taking part in Allgarve 2009, which is running for the third time and will continue until August.
