Natural beauty 'will be popular on Algarve holidays in 2011'
The significant number of people who opt to holiday in the Algarve during 2011 will increasingly be turned on by the region's natural highlights, according to one expert.
Nuno Aires, president of the Algarve Tourism Board, says individuals are sure to turn their attention to slightly unorthodox attractions when taking a break in the area.
"People are more and more focused on nature and the beautiful natural parts will grow [in popularity]. People are asking more and more for back-to-basics," he states.
The industry insider goes on to suggest it is the previously undiscovered parts of southern Portugal that will draw tourists in 2011.
This could include beaches, coves and rural spots that have so far remained untouched by significant numbers of visitors.
Holidays in the Algarve were recently named as one of the top ten travel options for next year by comparison site travelsupermarket.com, which also suggested locations such as Turkey, the Canary Islands and Mallorca will be popular.
