Michael Owen speaks highly of Algarve villa holidays

Former England international footballer Michael Owen has spoken of his love for villa holidays in the Algarve.

The Manchester United striker pointed out to holiday makers that, when it comes to family getaways, two of his favoured destinations are Dubai and the Portuguese destination.

He told the Daily Mail: "Playing golf at the Quinta do Lago course on the Algarve is as good as it gets, and there's also plenty for the kids to do. The weather is always perfect and it's a relatively short flight from Britain."

Furthermore, those taking villas in the Algarve may have the chance to see one of their favourite football stars, with Owen noting that many stars take their holidays in the Portuguese resort.

Last week, the sportier side of the Algarve was acknowledged even more, after it received the honour of Europe's best golf region for a fourth year in a row, the Algarve Tourism Association revealed.
