Many golf holidays on offer in the Algarve
The Algarve could be the ideal getaway for those looking for golf holidays this year, with many destinations offering the chance to enjoy this sport.
Nzherald.co.nz reported that around 40 courses are available to keen golfers visiting this part of Portugal, with a highlight being the Monte Rei.
Based in the hills of the north east of Tavira, the Jack Nicklaus signature course at Vila Nova de Cacela has been acknowledged as "one of the finest courses in Europe".
It is not just golf on offer to visitors though, with those treating themselves to an Algarve villa holiday also able to relax in the swimming pool of the destination's clubhouse, or play a round of tennis on a selection of courts around the site.
Some other popular golf locations in the Algarve include the Quinta do Vale – complete with an 18-hole course – and the Palmares Course to the east of Lagos, which is set to boast 27 holes later this year.
Recently, Simon Calder told the London Evening Standard that those taking a Algarve holiday should also check out Faro's old town, as the a glimpse at the location's history can be explored.
