Last-minute Algarve holiday offers motor mania

Fans of cars and other motors may wish to book a last-minute holiday in the Algarve and head to Portugal this weekend for a popular event.

The Algarve Historic Festival 2010 kicks off on Friday (October 15th) and runs through until Sunday, with more than 300 people set to bring their classic cars for a series of thrilling activities, reports Classic Driver.

Due to take place at the Algarve Autodrome, the festival includes a number of races, such as the FIA Historic Formula One Championship, the Masters series and U2TC Pre-66 Touring Cars.

Last year's event was enjoyed in 29 degrees Celsius temperatures, perhaps emphasising the potential for a sunshine break in Portugal at this time of year.

There will also be the return of the popular Pre-War Sports Cars race, which is back due to popular demand, the publication notes.

Turismo De Portugal this week announced it is to try and attract tourists to the country by showcasing its culinary delights at an upcoming exhibition at London's Excel Centre.
