Health tourism 'boom' sought by Algarve authorities

It has been announced that over the next five years close to a dozen private hospitals and clinics will open - aiming to focus on the new trend of health tourism.

Furthermore, five-star accommodations will start to offer more specialised spa treatments and medical assistance.

Antonio Pina of the Algarve ERTA Tourism Board believes that it is the perfect region for such a holiday: "With our climate, we have all conditions necessary to attract this type of tourist."

Treatments such as massages, thalassic therapy, shiatsu, acupuncture and Vichy baths are just some of the treatments that will be on the table.

Anyone renting a villa in the Parque da Floresta Golf and Leisure Resort can already take advantage of similar offerings at its own resort spa, while it also boasts a variety of fun, sporting and relaxing pursuits.
