Go sailing on an Algarve villa holiday

Algarve holiday makers looking to do something different during their break may want to go sailing for a unique view of the region.

According to Hello! magazine, going sailing in the Algarve is the perfect way to take in its peaceful coves, dramatic cliffs and secluded beaches.

It recommends seeing the Cape of San Vicente, the orange rock formations of Lagos and the Ria Formosa lagoon's natural sights from a boat.

"The view of the Algarve from the sea is something very special. The scenery of the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina dominates the coastline, with its unspoilt beaches and vertiginous cliffs," the publication states.

It is possible to book a boat trip with a firm specialising in different types of sailing excursions around the Algarve, including those with a bird-watching theme.

Back on land, other things to do on an Algarve villa holiday include taking in the flora and fauna at the National Forest of Barao de Sao Joao and the Lagoa Municipal Leisure and Environmental Park.
