Foodies will love the Algarve International Gourmet Festival

Holiday makers soon to be jetting off for an Algarve villa holiday will have the chance to attend the Algarve International Gourmet Festival.

Already a favourite with foodies, the Algarve offers up a mixture of vibrant restaurants and cafes serving authentic Portuguese food.

Fittingly, it is also home to the Annual International Gourmet Festival - now in its sixth year.

Taking place between January 12th and 22nd, the festival is aiming to showcase the regions delicious food and wine, with 20 top Michelin-starred chefs flying in to participate.

Local vineyards, cuisine, artists, designers and stunning countryside are also under a spotlight during the festival.

Festival organiser Gebhard Schachermayer commented that this is the only festival where visitors can experience the work of international Michelin-starred chefs in one place.

"With each of these superstar chefs presenting his or her tasting menu combined with several wine pairings, the festival is a true gourmand's dream," he said.
