Estoril 'is a highlight of Algarve holidays'
People who are planning to travel to the Algarve for a holiday may wish to take the advice of one writer and head to Estoril for a few hours.
Cian Nihill, author of a travel piece for the Irish Times, explains the town is home to the Portuguese royal family's summer residence and is well known for attracting aristocracy.
He goes on to suggest, as a result, it offers an "exclusive seaside holiday aura" that will be difficult to leave behind.
"With an infectiously relaxed atmosphere, a location so close to the Portuguese capital and an intriguing history all of its own, Estoril may be one of the best options [for travellers]," Mr Nihill states.
The expert suggests the coastal walking paths can be used for a peaceful – and perhaps romantic – stroll down the shore.
Nuno Aires, president of the Algarve Tourism Board, recently claimed Ria Formosa Natural Park should be enjoyed by those on holiday in southern Portugal.
