Car hire deal could allow holiday makers to see more of Algarve

Those who fancy getting away from the cold British winter have been recommended a holiday in the Algarve region.

Carhiremarket.com has said one of its car hire deals could allow visitors to see plenty of the sunny Portuguese region, which is located at the southern tip of the country, nearer to Africa than it is to the UK.

It notes the area does not just offer nightlife, sea and sand, but also interesting rock formations, lively market villages, small castles and inland scenery including forests and mountains.

Locations people may wish to drive to include Lagos with its historic port, or Tavira with its attractive churches and Roman remains.

In a recent Daily Telegraph review of the Portuguese capital Lisbon, Christopher Middleton recommended a visit to the city, something those hiring a car in the Algarve may wish to do for a day or two.

He praised the capital's museums as "not the grandiose, stuffy palaces you find in many European capital but altogether younger and more vibrant destinations".
