Book up Algarve villas to explore Aqua Portimao

Holiday makers who are hoping to book up Algarve villas and see themselves as a bit of a shopaholic may be interested in the completion of a new development in the Portuguese hot spot.

The Algarve region of Portimao has seen the Aqua Portimao shopping centre open to the public, the Portugal News reported.

Costing €106 million (£92 million) to develop, the attraction is home to 117 stores and is the fourth-largest mall of its kind in the location.

Brits staying in villas in the Algarve will be able to seek out the latest fashion garments in recognisable stores like H&M and Primark, which sees the pair of brands entering the Portuguese destination for the first time.

Commenting on the shopping centre, Luis Pires, managing director for Klepierre/Segece Iberia, said: "Aqua Portimao is filling a true shortage which existed in Portimao. Up until now, locals had to travel several kilometres in order to find a shopping centre similar to this one."

Tourists will be able to explore Aqua Portimao and its surrounding areas in temperatures averaging out at 20 degrees C, Martina Kerk, the product manager of Sun & Sea, Algarve Promotion Bureau, recently pointed out.
