Almancil villas on the doorstep of the Algarve's most challenging golf course
No trip to the Algarve would be complete without a round on one of its famous golf courses, and those staying in Almancil villas have one of the best on their doorstep.
Exec Digital named the Royal Golf Course as one of the best in the region for holiday makers looking for a challenge.
Founded in 1997, the site was said to be heavily influenced by Sir Henry Cotton and was described as being both a "distinctive and enjoyable golf course".
The 16th hole in particular is not to be attempted by the faint hearted, as it requires golfers to hit their ball across three sandstone cliffs.
"But from the island-esque green of the 9th to the deceptively simple straight closing shot, each section of the Royal Golf Course is special in its own way," the news provider said.
Golf lovers heading on villa holidays in the Algarve may also want to check out the Quinta do Lago, which Michael Owen told the Daily Mail is "as good as it gets".
