Algarve villas: After effects of the Icelandic ash cloud

The recent Icelandic ash cloud could be providing fears for those taking holidays this summer, such as to villas in the Algarve.

Grimsvotn's eruption last month, which caused ash to filter into the UK's airspace, only caused initial disruption for a matter of days.

However, research by InvisibleHand has shown that 70 per cent of Brits are now worried that the cloud will return to cause problems to flights from the country in the next month.

Furthermore, 57 per cent have expressed their trepidation of booking flights from the UK in the next year, due to possible reoccurrences of ash clouds.

Robin Landy, founder of InvisibleHand, noted: "The risk of losing money and facing big delays seem to be at the forefront of people's minds."

However, those who get over their unease and head out to Algarve villas will be able to treat themselves to some exciting festivals in the Portuguese destination.

Later this month, Brits should look to visit Loule to experience Festival Med, while August sees the seafood-orientated Festival do Marisco taking place in Jardim do Pescador Olhanense.
