Algarve villa occupants told to 'avoid dangerous beaches'
People who are heading to villas in the Algarve this summer have been told to refrain from sunbathing on dangerous parts of the Portuguese destination's coastline.
The warning was issued after a rock fall was witnessed earlier this month along part of the Salema beach, which can be found in the western resort of Vila do Bispo.
No injuries were recorded in that instance, in which a block of cliff about six metres high collapsed, the Lusa News Agency reported.
However, holiday makers are still choosing to ignore warning signs that highlight hazardous areas to bathe.
In fact, one lifeguard told the news source: "Now, for two or three days they don't expose themselves so much, but soon they barely register what we tell them."
For those who aim to stay safe while in Algarve villas around Vila do Bispo, there are plenty of exciting attractions to uncover.
Sites include a 16th century church housed in the centre of the small town, as well as an array of restaurants serving up freshly caught fish.
