Grab yourself a late deal >Algarve villa occupants 'can enjoy safer beaches'
Brits who are preparing to take a trip to villas in the Algarve have been told of changes that are coming to one of the Portuguese destination's beaches.
The coastline of Praia da Rocha in the resort of Portimao has opted into the Integrated Rescue Plan, the Portugal News reported.
It joins up with six other beaches in the Algarve to have associated themselves with the project, which aims to bring in a coordinator to manage human and material lifeguarding resources on the sands.
This scheme means that an area can cut back the number of lifeguards required per beach with permanent services, while protecting tourists' wellbeing up.
Commander Cruz Martins noted: "Supervision and lifesaving at the beaches will work jointly and in a coordinated way and we can say with all certainty that the beaches are safer with all the resources that are being made available."
Meanwhile, those seeking out a visit to Algarve villas in Portimao may be interested to hear that the Aqua Portimao shopping centre, which houses 117 stores, has now opened.
