Families planning Algarve villa holidays will be happy to hear that the Portuguese region is still a "winning formula".
This is the view of travel journalist Liz Rowlinson, who said its sweeping beaches and year-round sunshine make it a great holiday destination.
With some of the best golf courses in Europe, it also appeals to sportsmen and women looking for some activity during their break, she stated in an article for the Daily Mail.
She pointed out that a number of celebrities own holiday homes in the Algarve, with footballer Cristiano Ronaldo and singer Ronan Keating among them.
The Vale de Lobo area is particularly popular among the rich and famous, so holiday makers staying in nearby Vilamoura could take a trip to the resort to do some star spotting.
Ms Rowlinson also said that the Quinta do Lago area, which has four golf courses, is a "stunning location" on the edge of the Ria Formosa national park, so families could consider Algarve villas here.
Quinta do Lago is just 20 minutes away from Faro airport by car, making transfers quick.
