Algarve holiday 'is best value for British travellers'

A holiday in the Algarve offers the best value for money available anywhere in the world to British tourists.

That is the conclusion of the Post Office's latest Holiday Money Report, which states visitors will find their money goes further in Portugal than any other country.

Of all 36 established destinations studied by the organisation, Portugal offers the lowest prices for a vacation.

It compares the cost of eight items typically bought while on a foreign break, such as a cup of coffee, a bottle of water and a three-course meal for two.

Sarah Munro, head of travel money at the Post Office, says: "Travellers looking for best value holidays will get the most for their money in Portugal. It is great to see such an affordable option in Europe."

Gill Charlton, writing for the Daily Mail, recently suggested the resort of Carvoeiro is one of the top ten reasons to visit the country this year.
