Resort: Playa Blanca in Lanzarote
A pretty, bustling resort with a sandy beach and popular promenade, Playa Blanca is the most southerly resort on the Island of Lanzarote and is only 15 kilometres from the Timanfaya National Park. There are four stretches of shoreline, and close by is the nature reserve of Papagayo which hosts the best beaches on the island. The resort has a large harbour shared by fishing boats and ferries that take you to Fuerteventura. Take a water taxi from central Playa Blanca to the Marina Rubicon; home to smart yachts moored in a private marina. Pavement cafés and good seafood restaurants offer a relaxing atmosphere in which to unwind in the evening. "We have had family villa holidays for several years and this was easily the best in terms of booking experience and quality of accommodation. Our only concern was that we had picked a villa with a fenced off pool area because of young grandchildren but had missed the fact, if it was published, that the pool had no proper shallow end, which cuased some problems with them. It would be useful to highlight such matters prominantly in the advertising. That said it was a minor issue in relation to the total experience which was excellent - thank you from three generations of Newington's. "
