Insurer
James Villa Holidays travel insurance is arranged by Holiday Extras and underwritten by Mapfre Assistance who are both authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
Type of Insurance and eligibility
This is a holiday insurance policy which is only available to UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man residents aged 85 or under at the time of issue. Clients aged 86 yrs and over please contact Holiday Extras on 0800 781 4086 and quote reference AD897 for a quotation.
Important existing medical conditions
These apply to the Cancellation or Curtailment charges, Emergency Medical and Associated Expenses and Personal Accident sections of the policy.
Our policy excludes all existing medical conditions (except those listed as automatically excepted conditions within the policy wording) unless they are declared and agreed in writing by Holiday Extras, our medical screening provider. Anyone insured on this policy requiring cover should contact them if they have:
- Is anybody listed on the policy currently taking regular prescribed medication?
- Does anybody listed on the policy have any health condition for which they have been seen by a doctor or have had any investigations at any time in the last two years?
- Has anybody listed on the policy ever had any form of cancer, or any heart, circulatory or breathing disorder?
- Has anybody listed on the policy received a terminal prognosis?
- Does anybody listed on the policy suffer from an undiagnosed medical condition?
- Is anybody listed on the policy on a waiting list for surgery, treatment or investigation at a hospital, clinic or nursing home?
If necessary, please telephone them on 0845 458 0871 to declare any existing medical conditions. If there are any changes in health between now and the date of travel, you may need to declare these in the event that you intend to continue with your trip.

Other significant policy exclusions and limitations
There are certain exclusions and limitations within the policy which you should be aware, please find below details of some significant areas; for further exclusions and limits, please refer to your policy wording.
Personal possessions are not covered if they are left unattended. Valuables are excluded if left in a motor vehicle.
The 24 hour emergency medical service must be contacted if a member of the travelling party is hospitalised, requires repatriation or where medical fees are likely to exceed £250. The policy offers automatic cover for a number of sports & recreational activities at no additional premium. For a list of these activities please refer to your policy wording.
Cancellation Rights
If your cover does not meet your requirements, you may cancel cover within 14 days of receiving your insurance document/certificate and return all your documents for a refund of your premium, provided you have not travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim. You should fill in the form and send it to Mapfre Assistance with all the information and documents we ask for.
You will need to obtain some information about your claim while you are away. Please refer to the policy document for details.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)
For your added protection, the insurer is covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if the insurer cannot meet its obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim.
Insurance cover provides protection for 90% of the claim, without any upper limit.
