Lisbon Fish and Flavours is a popular food festival celebrating one of the main culinary specialities of the city, fish, which is skilfully prepared in a mouth-watering number of combinations and flavours. Wander around the exhibition stands to buy gourmet products, enjoy talks and tastings, watch cooking demonstrations and savour gastronomic delights created by Portugal’s most celebrated chefs.

 

01 Jun 2014 to 31 Jul 2014 - Sintra Festival

For two weeks during June and July, classical music fills the concert halls, manor houses and historical palaces of enchanting Sintra. The Sintra Festival is a celebration of music, dance, theatre and cultural events featuring international pianists, conductors and musicians as well as local ensembles. Events are held in some of the most beautiful venues in Lisbon, including the National Palace of Queluz, the National Palace of Sintra and the Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval.

The Sintra music festival is made up of a combination of classical music, recitals, concerts and ballet with Portuguese and international performers. The events take place at various locations in the Sintra area including the Palacio Nacional during June and July.

 

12 Jun 2014 to 13 Jun 2014 - Santo Antonio

The feast of Saint Anthony festival is celebrated throughout Lisbon, notably in the Alfama district and on the Avenida da Liberdade where there is a huge parade. The festival consists of singing and dancing, food and drink with the locals putting up lanterns and streamers in the streets. Fado music can be heard throughout the city and grilled sardines are eaten in huge quantities

 

29 Jun 2014 to 29 Jun 2014 - Sao Pedro

This festival consists of street celebrations with eating, dancing and singing as well as a boat procession sailing along the Tagus River.

 

01 Jul 2014 to 31 Aug 2014 - Estoril Music Festival

Annual music festival that lasts for five weeks and takes place in July and August with a programme of modern jazz as well as classical music and chamber recitals. The festival is attended by musicians from around the world and takes place in various venues in and around Estoril.

 

10 Jul 2014 to 12 Jul 2014 - Optimus Alive Music Festival

Now entering its eighth year, this 50,000 capacity music festival is in a prime location in the heart of Lisbon, a 5 minute drive from the capital's historical landmarks and nightlife

 

01 Sep 2014 to 30 Sep 2014 - Festa da Senhora da Consolacao

This event, in celebration of Portugal's patron saint, takes place throughout September in Sintra, with lively parties and events in the Assafora area
